Elizabeth's Monthly Report November 2013
The thirty-eighth monthly report from Elizabeth Truss MP updating residents on her activities.
Elizabeth appears on Question Time.
Elizabeth met parish councillors from Stow Bedon & Breckles, Wretham and Hockham to hear their concerns about planning applications. Elizabeth welcomed the news that the government has decided to remove the PFI credits from the proposed Saddlebow waste to energy plant, and has urged the County Council to abandon the scheme. Elizabeth supported proposals for a relief road in Brandon provided no development in Norfolk is involved. In November she met the Department of Health officials to discuss the situation at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

She was pleased with the announcement that under the new GP contract from 2014/15 there will be a dedicated GP personally responsible for patients over the age of 75. Elizabeth would like to encourage residents to send her feedback about their experience of local health care facilities. Elizabeth has raised concerns with the new Farming Minister George Eustice MP about the proposed Common Agricultural Policy funding. Elizabeth is encouraging farmers to respond to the governments’ consultation on how to implement the Common Agricultural policy in the UK at this email address: Capconsultation@defra.gsi.gov.uk. Elizabeth has taken up concerns about the ending of the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Scheme with Immigration Minister Mark Harper MP.
Elizabeth attended the Gala Dinner at Thetford Academy. Elizabeth announced new subject content for GCSEs in English and maths. She announced that £4.8 million is being given to military ethos projects, which involves members of the armed services working in schools to improve self-discipline, leadership and teamwork. Elizabeth announced that 92,000 of the most disadvantaged 2-year-olds are now receiving up to 15 hours a week of fully funded childcare. She spoke to Cornerstone about the importance of mathematics teaching.

Elizabeth attended the Remembrance Day service in Upwell. She spoke about Women in Government at the Institute for Government. She opened the Art Exhibition at the Swaffham Visual Arts Festival. She visited schools and nurseries in Madrid.
Elizabeth appeared on Question Time in Liverpool. She was interviewed for Daybreak, Sky News, BBC News, Radio 5 Live, BBC Look East and KLFM. She has written articles for the Telegraph, the Guardian, Signpost, the Welney News, the Thetford and Swaffham Times, the Marham Parish Council Magazine and the Eagre News. She has appeared in The Times, the Telegraph, the Guardian, the Independent and the Eastern Daily Press.
