On Friday 20th April,at the Charles Burrell Centre, Thetford South West Norfolk MP Elizabeth Truss, with the Department for Work and Pensions, will launch the Breckland for Jobs campaign. This initiative, led by District Manager Julia Nix from DWP Job Centre Plus, is designed to support the 18-24 year olds into employment. This can include mock interviews, help with CV writing, work experience, apprenticeships. Attending will be a number of employers from across the Thetford area. Similar launches will also be held in Kings Lynn and Dereham with the largest number of attendees at the Thetford launch.
Elizabeth Truss MP commented – ‘I am delighted to support the Breckland for Jobs initiative. DWP are keen to ensure the 18 – 24 year old age bracket secure training and employment, as soon as possible, in order to give them the best start for their future working lives. Engagement from business is key to this and it is great that a significant number of employers from across the region will be attending the launch in Thetford. My colleagues Sir Henry Bellingham MP in Kings Lynn and George Freeman MP in Dereham are also hosting events, so the number of employers committed to the programme is in excess of 100. That is really excellent news. There is tremendous untapped potential in our young people, but regrettably some of them struggle to secure employment. By providing training with mock interviews, CV writing, presentation and hopefully work experience and apprenticeships as well as jobs, these young people will find full time employment.'
